In 2024, Chile will again be the perfect place to observe a solar eclipse, this time on Easter Island. Two total solar eclipses have already taken place in July 2019 and December 2020.
On October 2, 2024, you will observe an annular eclipse, best visible from Easter Island, Chile´s mystical island Rapa Nui in the middle of the pacific ocean.
What’s an annular eclipse?
An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line with the earth, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the dark disk of the moon.
