You will be welcomed, either at Punta Arenas airport, or at your hotel, followed by the drive north, to Puerto Natales – a route that will take you through the broad Patagonian pampa. Overnight accommodation.
Day 2 – Torres del Paine National park
The drive into the Torres del Paine National Park sets off early in the morning, where you will be met by the Estancia Las Torres’ own vehicle at the ranger’s station, next to Lake Amarga. The driver will take you the last few miles along a private road to reach your comfortable lodgings, set right below the Torres peaks. You will get to know the horses in the afternoon, followed by an introductory ride to Lake Nordenskjöld. This first horse-riding tour will also quickly introduce you to the fabulous views of the surrounding mountains. Accommodation is at the Refugio Las Torres.
Day 3 – Horse-riding tour to the Torres del Paine peaks
Today your horses are saddled to reach one of the park’s top attractions: the peaks of the Torres del Paine. The final section traverses a moraine, before reaching a deeply green lagoon, where the vista of the Torres peaks will open up before your eyes: pinnacles of rock, over 1000m/3,281ft high, piercing the sky. The return ride to the Refugio Las Torres and your overnight accommodation follows in the afternoon.
Day 4 – Torres del Paine National park
Breakfast is followed by a horse-riding tour to the Torres Massif via the Cuernos del Paine (literally: the Paine Horns). The ‘horns’ are, in fact, giant granite walls with small pointed caps of slate along the top, formed by thousands of years of erosion. This gentle route tracing the base of huge mountains will also provide encounters with beautiful lakes and lagoons before returning you to your mountain refuge overnight accommodation.
Day 5 – Torres del Paine National park – Punta Arenas
Transfer back to the airport at Punta Arenas.
Horse riding gear is provided.
