Day 1 – Lake crossing to Bariloche
In the morning, you will travel along the road following Lake Llanquihue’s shoreline, enjoying breath-taking views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. First stop of the day is at the «Saltos de Petrohue» waterfall.
Afterwards, a catamaran will depart for the crossing of Lake Todos Los Santos, setting off from the quay at Petrohue. «All Saints Lake» is surrounded by densely forested mountains, while the perfect cone of the Osorno volcano dominates the landscape. During the journey, the boat passes small islands, waterfalls and the pointed summit of the Puntiagudo volcano. Your destination is Peulla, in the heart of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National park. A hike through the dense Valdivian temperate rainforest will take you to the ‘Cascada de la Novia’ waterfall, and introduce many indigenous trees and plants alongside the interesting educational path.
In the afternoon, the journey continues to Argentina, via the Pérez Rosales Pass. Short distances by bus are interspersed by lake crossings by boat or catamaran. Everywhere you will be treated to wonderful views of pristine landscape. Fortunately this lonely route has never been turned into a major highway, and can still be travelled in much the same way, as by the earliest settlers to the region, over a century ago. The last boat journey ends at Puerto Pañuelo on Lake Nahuel Huapi. Accommodation in Bariloche.
