Day 1 – Antofagasta
- Airport pick up in Antofagasta
- Drive along the Pacific Ocean with beaches and sand dunes including “La Portada“
- Continue to Mejillones
- Overnight in Antofagasta

Day 2 – Antofagasta – Calama – San Pedro de Atacama
- Drive to Calama through the desert
- Old railway station Baquedano
- Former Saltpeter mine Chacabuco
- Drive to San Pedro de Atacama
- See sunset in the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley)
- Overnight in San Pedro
- 320km / 199mi paved road
Day 3 – San Pedro and surroundings
- Visit Museum Padre Le Paige and the church
- Surrounding villages
- Sand dunes in the Valle de la Muerte
- Tulor and Quitor, pre-Inka settlements
- Overnight in San Pedro
- 70 to 100km / 44 to 62mi unpaved road
Day 4 – Salar de Atacama (and Lakes Miscanti y Meniques)
- Drive to historic village of Toconao
- Explore the Salar de Atacama
- See flamingos at Laguna Chaxa
- Continue to the Lakes Miscanti and Meniques, 4000m/13,124ft altitude (Pick-up or Jeep required)
- Overnight in San Pedro
- 120km / 75mi to the Salar de Atacama
- 250km / 155mi to the Lakes (round trip)
Day 5 – Geysers El Tatio
Book an optional organized excursion to the Geysers of El Tatio (road is in very bad condition and you have to start at 4am to see the sunrise), so we do not recommend to drive on your own)
Overnight in San Pedro
Day 6 – Calama – Tocopilla or Antofagasta
- Drive back to Calama
- Visit the world largest copper mine Chuquicamata
- See the picturesque village of Chiu Chiu with one of the oldest churches in Chile
- Drive to Tocopilla,a very nice beach resort at the Pacific Ocean
- Head on to Antofagasta
- Overnight in Antofagasta
- Drive 250km / 155mi to Tocopilla and in total 450km / 280mi to Antofagasta on paved road
Day 7 – Antofagasta
- Return your car at the airport in Antofagasta
