ALMA opens to the public

The world’s biggest radio telescope, the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) is now open to the public as of the end of March. ALMA is the result of a cooperation between Europe, the USA, Canada, East Asia, and Chile. Here, scientists investigate the “birth” of stars and get a closer look at the origin of the universe. Until now, access was only for scientists. We are happy to announce that from now on, a group of tourists can visit ALMA every Saturday and Sunday morning. The tours depart from Santiago, where guests are picked up by a special ALMA bus which brings them to the ALMA facility, about 50 km away. This tour is a real scientific adventure!
