For the second time, Chile was voted the World’s Best Adventure Destination in the World Travel Awards (WTA), known as the Oscar of the tourism industry. The 24th annual winner’s choice was made by direct vote on the official website of the WTA, where Chile won against countries such as Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Japan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United States. Compared to other destinations, Chile has great advantages and unique elements that help it stand out as a popular tourist destination. In 2016, more than half of all international tourists stated that the main reason for choosing Chile as their destination was its nature, landscapes, flora, and fauna.
