Villarrica Lava Caves (Half-Day Excursion)

Just 12 km from Pucón lies the entrance to the fascinating Villarrica Lava Caves, a natural stone monument shaped by the eruptions of one of Chile’s most active volcanoes. These tunnels, formed approximately two million years ago, were created when the surface of a massive lava flow cooled and solidified, while molten layers continued to move beneath.

Visitors can explore up to 300 meters into the caves, gaining a unique perspective on a lava stream from within. This one-hour guided excursion is led by experienced professionals, ensuring an educational and safe experience. Our colleague Sole ventured approximately 6 kilometers from the center of Pucón to discover the natural beauty of Salto del Claro Park. The park’s centerpiece is the breathtaking Salto del Claro waterfall, a stunning 90-meter cascade surrounded by lush native forest.
This serene destination is ideal for nature lovers, offering tranquility and spectacular views. Accessible via a short hike, the park features private mountain trails suitable for the whole family, blending ecotourism and adventure tourism in one unforgettable experience. A must-visit for anyone exploring the wonders of Chile’s Lake District!

Discovering the Heritage of the Mapuche People

Visitors are invited to step into a ruka, a traditional Mapuche house, or a specially designed space that vividly illustrates their worldview.
