The exclusive AWASI Lodge in San Pedro de Atacama, Andrew Harper’s recent “Hideaway of the Year” designee, is set to receive a new counterpart in the far south of the country: the Awasi Patagonia, located on a private bio-reserve just outside Torres del Paine National Park. This spacious property, overlooking Lake Sarmiento, will consist of twelve independent 80-m2 villas, each with a living room, fireplace, hot tub, and views of the lake and the Torres peaks beyond. Designed to blend perfectly into the landscape, the twelve villas will be mostly 2-person occupancy (one will accommodate 4 sleepers), for a maximum total of 26 guests. The main building of the AWASI Patagonia will house a bar, gourmet restaurant, terrace and comfortable common room. The resort is protected from Patagonia’s strong winds by its location in the native lenga and ñirre woodland, which is home to many species of indigenous wildlife, including guanacos, ñundus (a type of deer) and foxes. As is the case at the existing San Pedro AWASI, the primary focus of the AWASI Patagonia will be on satisfying the individual needs of each of its guests. Each villa will have at its disposal a vehicle and local guide, guaranteeing privacy, flexibility, and personal attention at all times.
The AWASI Patagonia will open its doors in November, 2013, and will offer special pricing during its first season (through May, 2014).
