Cruise Highlights Amalia Glacier During the journey along Peel inlet, you reach Amalia Glacier, located in the middle of the Southern Ice Field. The sight of the glacier’s descent from the Andes is particularly impressive. The glacier’s front is about 1km/0.6mi wide and up to 50m/164ft in height. Later, you also travel through Calvo Inlet, where you will see another six glaciers and floating icebergs in many shapes and colours. Motorboats especially suited to the purpose will carry you close to the icebergs, and you will also have the opportunity to toast your journey with a glass of whiskey containing ice cubes thousands of years old.

Flora and Fauna The region’s natural environment is characterized by its wide variety: the native animals and plants will delight every nature-lover. Many bird species and their nesting places on the steep cliffs of islands can be observed during your cruise. You will also frequently be accompanied by dolphins and tuna, which swim alongside the vessel.

Pre-Cruise Additional Night and Excursion

Passengers may book an additional night  to join an excursion to Torres del Paine National park with a visit to the Milodon Cave (price onrequest).

Puerto Natales – Amalia Glacier – Montañas Fjord – Puerto Natales

(4 days / 3 nights)

Day 1 – Puerto Natales Welcome at Punta Arenas airport, with transport to the Skorpios office and check-in. Later, a private bus will take you from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales, where you will board your ship. Between 17:00 and 18:00 hours the ship will depart for the captivating landscape of the Angostura Kirke estuary, before heading further north, through Morla Vicuña Channel, Union Bay, and Collingwood and Sarmiento Channels. A welcome cocktail and dinner will be served.

Day 2 – Amalia Glacier At 08:00 hours you will arrive at Amalia Glacier. As the ship approaches the glacier you will have a wonderful panoramic view. The ship will continue onward toward El Brujo Glacier, where you will arrive at about 11:00 hours. Weather permitting, you will disembark to explore the area. Later, the ship will continue to Calvo Fjord. There you will see four different glaciers and make excursions by small motorboat. The main ship will make a close approach to Calvo Glacier (weather permitting). At about 20:00 hours the ship will set sail toward Montañas Fjord.

Day 3 – Montañas Fjord After breakfast you will visit Montañas Fjord, where you will see five glaciers, which flow down from the Sarmiento Mountains to the sea.  The journey continues to  Alsina Glacier, where can do a short hike. Next is Bernal Glacier, where you can hike through native forest and over moraines to the base of the glacier. The hiking path even leads through a small lagoon! You will also visit Herman Glacier, cruise in its bay, and admire the beauty of the area and multicoloured icebergs (this will depend on the tide). Following this, In late afternoon the ship will depart Montañas Fjord for Puerto Natales. This evening you are invited to a Farewell Party with a Captain’s dinner. Last night on board.

Day 4 – Puerto Natales Disembarkation takes place between 08:00 and 09:30 am.

The price includes: Four meals daily (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner); as well as all excursions described for the tour.
Warm clothing and raingear is essential, as well as good hiking boots and sunscreen. Life wests are provided.
