Tierra del Fuego and Porvenir

A morning ferry transports visitors from Punta Arenas across the icy Magellan Strait to reach Tierra del Fuego – South America’s largest island. With a bit of luck, you will observe dolphins during the ferry crossing. On Tierra del Fuego, you will visit the settlement of Porvenir, and the small, but fascinating, Fernando Cordero Rusque Museum that displays the rare archaeological and photographic exhibits on the Ona, the island’s original inhabitants. The Ona were decimated after gold was found in their territory, in 1880.
The return journey to Punta Arenas in the afternoon is by flight.
